OUR STORY
A Brand Built on Legend
Our LESHY brand started with an idea, born from a desire to recognize my Czech heritage, and by doing so, to honor my father’s memory.
A little history: My dad's grandparents and great-grandparents came to America to farm the land at the base of Mount Nebo in Dardanelle, AR. I was always fascinated to hear my dad's stories about past generations, and to learn more about my Lastovaka family heritage. Although we’re a little further west now, in Fort Smith, our family is still in that same Arkansas River Valley, situated between the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. Growing up, my dad taught me to respect nature, walk silently through the woods, and to leave no trace.
Over time, I got curious enough to do a little research on my family’s origins, and that’s when I came “face-to-face” with the Leshy known in Slavic folklore. An idea began to form to create a unique design to represent this mythological protector of the forest. My wife realized we needed a way to tie the myth to our original design so the story could be shared, and “The Legend of the Leshy - Guardian of the Woods" was born.
